Excellent, It's good it works finally.

UPUpdate has latest HotFix patch now but I had no chance to test it. It should work.

About this part: "It might be best to have the updater just run a check, update as required, then exit when the user has been notified that the check and update is complete. If the updater stays as is, I can see your website using tons of bandwidth when clients inadvertently download stuff they didn't need. "

At the moment people are trying 2.01 and maybe they want go back to 2.0n until their favorite servers upgrade to 2.01.  In the future it will be only one option. There is no big difference between these two versions when you upgrade to 2.01.  Going back and forth is only 160MB or so.

Yes but I already had 2.01, and when I selected 2.01, it started downloading .sfs files...

Did you download all three files into the same folder?
The install is in three parts, UPSetup201.exe, data2.cab and data3.cab

Don't worry about that.. UPUpdate downloads only missing files or missing parts of files. Internet traffic will be low as much as it can be.

Downloaded and applied the fix and  now it works fine. Im using xp home 32 bit.
I had to reinstall the whole thing to get all working.
Took me about 40 minutes, so all that update theire UP 2.0n and might have added a few things of choice might want to reinstall from scratch first.
Good work Cro_Ante!:)

@Chalky, @Gryphon

Try UPUpdate again, I made change to it. Try it now and report results.

Hi Ante,
Eureka!  :dance1: It's working just fine now.

Excellent news Chalky.

There was minor bug in UPUpdate that prevented some people from using it.  "Program files"  game installation folder wasn't been the problem.

I just ran it to get the latest hotfix. I selected Option 1, and it downloaded 3.87GB, even though I had a working 2.01 install. All the fixes were made, but I'm sure I didnt need to DL all those GB's.

I then ran it again, and this time it only downloaded a few bytes. Good!

Problem is that I think the first time every user runs this, you'll be downloading 3.87GB to each of them. It was very fast, but that's a lot of bandwidth!

For what ever reason it happened to you, it is not happening to everyone. It didn´t happen for me.

What's happening when they run UPUpdate, there are log files here: http://crosquadron.com/ultrapack2/logs

Example from one log:

2010/04/09 22:00:14 [7596] File list transfer time: 0.000 seconds
2010/04/09 22:00:14 [7596] Total bytes sent: 514
2010/04/09 22:00:14 [7596] Total bytes received: 245.32K
2010/04/09 22:00:14 [7596] sent 514 bytes  received 245.32K bytes  13.29K bytes/sec
2010/04/09 22:00:14 [7596] total size is 3.87G  speedup is 15735.52

You have 3.87G of file to transfer but since almost everything is same transferred size is only: Total bytes sent + received: 514 + 245.32K

Okay that makes sense.

One other question - I have a DS on the same machine as my client install for test purposes. Will the UPUpdate for the server work if there is already a UPUpdate log for the client on the same MAC address?

With little tweaking it can until Pappy makes some changes in next releases.

Open registry editor edit value "SyncFolder" to point to your server location and it should work after that. If you want to update client installation revert key value to point to game UPUpdate located in game folder.

Depending from  location it points to it will update client or server location.
