Yes but I already had 2.01, and when I selected 2.01, it started downloading .sfs files...

Don't worry about that.. UPUpdate downloads only missing files or missing parts of files. Internet traffic will be low as much as it can be.

Downloaded and applied the fix and  now it works fine. Im using xp home 32 bit.
I had to reinstall the whole thing to get all working.
Took me about 40 minutes, so all that update theire UP 2.0n and might have added a few things of choice might want to reinstall from scratch first.
Good work Cro_Ante!:)

@Chalky, @Gryphon

Try UPUpdate again, I made change to it. Try it now and report results.

Hi Ante,
Eureka!  :dance1: It's working just fine now.

Thank you very much mate.  :drinks:

Excellent news Chalky.

There was minor bug in UPUpdate that prevented some people from using it.  "Program files"  game installation folder wasn't been the problem.

I just ran it to get the latest hotfix. I selected Option 1, and it downloaded 3.87GB, even though I had a working 2.01 install. All the fixes were made, but I'm sure I didnt need to DL all those GB's.

I then ran it again, and this time it only downloaded a few bytes. Good!

Problem is that I think the first time every user runs this, you'll be downloading 3.87GB to each of them. It was very fast, but that's a lot of bandwidth!

For what ever reason it happened to you, it is not happening to everyone. It didn´t happen for me.

What's happening when they run UPUpdate, there are log files here: http://crosquadron.com/ultrapack2/logs

Example from one log:

2010/04/09 22:00:14 [7596] sent 514 bytes  received 245.32K bytes  13.29K bytes/sec
2010/04/09 22:00:14 [7596] total size is 3.87G  speedup is 15735.52

You have 3.87G of file to transfer but since almost everything is same transferred size is only: Total bytes sent + received: 514 + 245.32K

Okay that makes sense.

One other question - I have a DS on the same machine as my client install for test purposes. Will the UPUpdate for the server work if there is already a UPUpdate log for the client on the same MAC address?

With little tweaking it can until Pappy makes some changes in next releases.

Open registry editor edit value "SyncFolder" to point to your server location and it should work after that. If you want to update client installation revert key value to point to game UPUpdate located in game folder.

Depending from  location it points to it will update client or server location.

@Goblin:

Reinstall the UP201, run the UPUpdate, and when prompted, select option (1) for 201. And let it do all the things it wants to do. May take 5 minutes or so.

@Goblin, first: calm down, second: I don't see your post in this topic, third: try Gryphon's method, report results here.

Hi, 1st:
HERE: http://ultrapack.il2war.com/index.php/topic,1536.240.html  Here was my request directly to you without any follow good answer.
2nd: did you noticed I wrote "PLEASE" in my previous post? I'm very disappointed about the attitude you reserve to user if you don't give good answer after have made such a feature that make a great revolution (if not add lot's of problem..) into personal user's setting game like UPdate is. This feature may be a good idea but must be followed by a very strong "customer care" because it ALSO introduces lots of problem to all people who want to mantain its game updated now. Thank you for you attention about.

Thank you for your attention HaDes..luckly I patiently have gone to a full re-install of 2.01 on 2.0n and Uppdates has started to function finally (pehw! :neo:) Still I think this feature is a good idea but developers here woud better to leave this as an OPTION at least at the fist stage..as I think many people will go to big trouble with this new feature introduced suddently with any prelude  and without any good "how to" support.not good policy strategy for all user who follow U.P. pack line of mod-1946 IMHO.

Goblin I don't know how I offended you, telling you to "calm down" was not offense. I told you to how problem can be solved.

I'm very satisfied how UPUpdate works since we had no chance to test it widely. If it works it can help you a lot and I'm sure it works good. There are no other reports that UPUpdate is not working.

Anyway, I'm glad that you solved problem with UPUpdate, enjoy your game.

Regards,
Ante

M8 I'm all ok with you don't worry :).. remember I'm Italian :) and sometimes our feeling may appear a little bit "too direct".. I'm to thank you because everyone who work (free) to improve this game for the community  is a gentleman other than a PC "genyus", hope you take my criticism in the right way as it is intended: please take care of 1946 community end-users with your mod installed because it is not easy to follow all instructions especially for not expert;) cheers.
