Broked my San's FOV changer
« on: May 27, 2011, 03:44:23 AM »
UP 3.0, so far so good but it broke San's FOV changer for me. I can activate it in game but I can't change FOV. Is San's even needed anymore or has widescreen support been integrated. I haven't fiddled with any of the other widescreen mod options assume they only effect menus screen or is this not correct?

Funny enough, after installing several mods, a couple of repaints from 4.101 and making a tiny change to the FOV changer, it seems to be working now. So far I've gotten about a dozen mods to work including p-38 cockpit repaint, fire and smoke effect, Smoke plane crash, Buffy's flak, as well as plutonium effects though I'm not sure to which features of the plutonium effects are working. Installed my map repaints too and I'm a happy camper now.

I was having issues as well.

  I have managed to get it working by turning off 6dof from the launcher and disabling Y in my trackir.  I think there was a conflict with trackir zooming and using sans to change the fov.

    I still get the same issues I always have with sans, I.e. sometimes I am flying and it zooms all the way in, taking a few secons before I can get it back to normal.

    I would be interested to know what change/tweak you made to sans from your side.

Thanks!

I confirm this. San's FOV changer works erratically, meaning sometimes works sometimes don't. It work OK without problems just before I increased addressing space to 4GB and max memory to 1200MB.

I realy hope some day FOV changer and 6DoF will be merged into a new mod that will give user proper access to their FOV and 6DoF options.

I also had problems with 6DOF and San's FOV changer. Then I realized that I had activated some visual mods through the #UP# folder. Between them I had one of those 6DOF mods that I used in a il2 v4.10.1 + SAS activator installation I used before UP3. Since I deactivated it putting a - in front of the 6dof mod folder, san´s fov changed works fine. I have the 6DOF, 4gb  and 1200mb options selected in the up3 start options menu.
So if you activate the 6DOF option in the UP3 start options menu, deactivate any other mod related to 6DOF you may have in your UP3 mods folder (#UP#).

I dont have also other mods -  onlyUP 3.0 with widesrceen support and my FOV changer dont work :(   So now i got lower FOV and cut view.

It would be really nice to have 100% FOV settings in IL2 instead default 90% without using aditional soft like FOV changer. I think 100% FOV is really enough and it is the same like 90% with 4:3 screen.

The best solution would be to have 100% FOV settings with using Widescreen support mod.

Something more I discovered.
If your san´s fov changer is not working, open the "pref.ini" and delete de local mac address

example:
before deleting mac:

115       // Default Fov
Q
None
None
None
None
001F1F7D7F63       // Local Mac
1711       // Local Port
20
120
15
1
0       // Start Point
449962240       // End Point
Saitek X52 Pro Flight Controller
-1
-1
4

after:
115       // Default Fov
Q
None
None
None
None
                         // Local Mac
1711       // Local Port
20
120
15
1
0       // Start Point
449962240       // End Point
Saitek X52 Pro Flight Controller
-1
-1
4

Start the program again. Now it should work

I least have the solution !!
And Run perfectly for me

Edited: in some cases, if is no work
I had to reboot the pc.
And go.

Setttings:

Win 7 Sp 1 -64b
AMD 965 - 8 GB Ram - 560 TI

Conf.ini
[window]
width=1600
height=900
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=0
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=1
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=0
Use3Renders=0

You MUST  to be in cockpit
San's_IL2_FovChange MUST be closed

Then ALT+TAB.
Then Run San's_IL2_FovChange
And click Start!!
Then ALT+TAB.
Go to cockpit !

AND THE MAGIC IS.......

Click Right
Compatibility mode
Win XP SP 3
Before all l

RUNS GREAT!!

after a lot of trying the following seems to work reproducibly for me:

- get everything started (TrackIR + FOV changer + IL2)
- get into cockpit and disable trackir (for me its f9)
- start FOV changer
- restart trackir

et voila....

edit: forget it ... sorry ... worked a couple of times, now its gone again.
I guess its just random.... very frustrating ...

edit 2: it DOES work!
but sometimes have to switch on/off TrackIR/FOVChanger several times,
but now always get it working.

I am SOOOO happy now  :)

I've found that if I restart FOV changer every time I load the game (Track IR must be already running), that it works at least as well as it ever has. I wish we could just get an ingame solution for this.  :-[

yes, it would be nice. I don't understand the lack of reaction into this. And into modifying the 6DoF mod...

No news regarding San's FOV changer with UP 3.O?

This is a major problem for all the surround triple screeners....

Could somebody fix it?

I agree need fix for sans FOV to work with 6dof IL2 up3!

Without sans FOV util, triple screen/widescreen use of IL2 is useless!... If I don't find a reliable fix soon, I probably will abandon IL2 and get rise of flight. I tried their demo and 6dof with widescreen all works GREAT!
