DF Server Set UP
« on: July 18, 2011, 07:48:12 AM »
~S~ UP 3 Staff and Every One!
Hope every one is fine and doing well.
I was wondering if you can give me a step by step in setting up a Dedicated Servering UP 3 RC3.
We tried once, however when a Mission Load with canonuk CCM is says can not be loaded or found.
I have also the Four Season CCM.  The Mission I made using cannonuk CCM in the MIS files reads CCM 1943.
So I hope you can please give me a step by step instruction on setting up the UP3 Server.
Thank You Very Much

Most problems with mission loading on a server are because you aren't telling it where the missions are!

Try starting your server then typing in the console window at the prompt

>mission LOAD xyz/CCM 1943.mis BEGIN

where xyz is the name of the folder under /Missions where you put your server missions

Thank You Gryphon for the reply.
However I guess what we are looking for is a step by step on setting up a
dedicated UP3 RC3 server. We used HSFX 4.11 last time. Now with all the great
things in Up 3 we want  the Dedicated Server as a UP3 Server.
So I am asking for is a more direct answer for setting up UP3 as a Dedicated Server.
Thank You all at UP for all the Hard work you are doing to bring a more compete Mod Pack
to the IL-2 community.

Go get your IL-2 4.09m dedicated Server pack here:
http://ultrapack.il2war.com/index.php?topic=3989.0

Apply Server Patches 4.10:
http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=17765
and 4.101:
http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=18751

Install the latest UP3 RC, first client version, then DF server files on top.

Voilá, you have your UP3 server.

~S~ Storebror or others,
Thanks for the detailed instructions. I've been hosting WB Flights Ops for years now using FBDj. Trying to get UP3 RC4 running now and I installed all new server files using the old (original) dedicated server files from 2.04 up to 4.10.1. I installed UP3.0 + RC4 client + RC4 DFS file. My server starts and runs but will not change maps. I tried a different install of UP3 + first DFS patch + RC4 client then RC4 DFS, still no mission advance. I am now downloading and going to install the 409 server from MediaFire and attempt it again with those files.

Verify Please:
4.10 server patch
4.10.1 server patch
UP3.0
UP3.0 RC4 Client
UP3.0 RC4 DF server

Using FBDj 1.8b2 and I know Willie is working on an update but it sounds like lots have their server running now.
I believe everything else is good as I can connect via HL and fly the mission, just can't advance to next mission or run temp mission.

Thanks very much

UP3.0
UP3.0 RC4 Client
UP3.0 RC4 DF server

Hey Black Wolf,
From what I understand,  RC4 has all previous RC's in it so RC2 and RC3 need not be applied first. However, this is actually my question. Do I install original DFS patch first and then the RC4 then RC4 server? Or can I go streight to RC4 client then RC4 server?

Honestly do not know. I installed one by one, because it was not RC4 yet, and it works pretty well, but I think you should install UP3.0 RC DF server first, and after update to  UP 3.0 RC4 DF Server Patch

Ok, that is the way I did my latest server install. It loads up and runs the first mission. I attempt to run a temp mission from FBDj and in the server DOS window I get this;

Mission: FBDj/C nfw 1.mis is Playing
51>chat Mission Stopped by Admin TO ALL
52>chat Next Mission load in 5 Seconds TO ALL
53>mission END
54>

and that is it. The next mission never loads and clients cannot connect to server anymore.

Still working on it.... but I'm sure it's something that I've missed and very simple

Do you set time in FBDj Mission Builder  ? :D Seriously, check Firewall settings for Fbdj, it looks like Fbdj don't work properly.  Your UP is fine, you may run mission with out Fbdj and check, but im sure is fine
btw

server confs.in  check

[Console]
IP=20003
IPS= internal IP
LOG=1
LOGTIME=1
LOGFILE=logs.lst
HISTORY=128
HISTORYCMD=128
LOGKEEP=0

then in Fbdj IL2 server port must be 20003

~S~! Black_Wolf,

 :drinks: I got it... for some reason my confs.ini was missing an important section;

[game]
eventlog=c:\FlightOps\eventlog.1st
event_ground=1
event_air=1

eventlogkeep=1
TypeClouds=1

After adding these lines back in the server runs and advances just fine.

I really appreciate your help with this you've been a great trouble shooting assistant.  :cheers:

Hello,

I assume that before installing the 4.09m server patch and going one with all the other patches to have an UP 3.0 dedicated server I must install an unmodded and clean client game version 4.09m. Is this correct?

Thanks and regards.

Willy,
Above SAS~Storebror gives a good rundown. Follow his guide as quoted here but do not install the client to the server at all. You will need a console to run the server. FBDj by Willie is a very good one. You can get it at http://www.warbirdsofprey.org/index.php . It has a good instruction manual.
Good luck

Hello again,

meanwhile I downloaded mentioned server pack 4.09m, server patch 4.10, server patch 4.101, the UP 3.0 RC client version together with the server patch and the FBDj. I assume that I don't need the UP 3.0 client patches RC 2, RC3 and RC4. Correct me please if I am wrong.

Do I have to install the orginal game IL-2 Sturmmovik 1946 before installing the above mentioned packs and patches? I'm not quiet sure how to proceed in setting up a server with UP 3.0. Your help would be much appreciated and thank you for your patience with me!

Regards, Willy

Hey Willy,
There is no need to install the DVD. All you need prior to UP3.0 is the server files listed in Storebror's post. And now I can't remember if I installed RC4 Client and then RC4 Server or just RC4 server to UP3.0. Sorry about not remembering. It seems that I did install client then server RC4. Can someone else refresh my memory for Willy's sake?

Good luck Willy and have fun. If you run into major issues I'd be glad to TS3 with you to see if we can get it going for you. Just send me a PM and look for me on our TS3 server. You can connect through our website.

G'day Chaps,

I'm trying to install a server for UP 3.0.  I'd like to use FBDj Release 1.88 Beta 2 as the server front-end.

Just want to clarify the previous post by FlashOver.

He asked a question about the correct install file sequence to set-up the server.

What is the correct install sequence?

And have I got the right release for FBDj to run a front-end for a UP 3.0 server?

Cheers,

Siggels.

~S~ Siggles,
I have installed another server and the client did not need to be installed. I went right to RC4 server after UP 3.0.

I can't help you on FBDj. I'm using version 1.8 Beta2. I know there are updates to FBDj but not sure of the version 1.88 beta2. I know there are updates to 1.8 Beta2 to work with 4.11 patch.

Good luck Sir.

G'day Chaps,

I've got the server going somewhat.  The computers in my LAN connect to the server when I use 4.10.1, but when I use UP 3.0, an error message says that the server is using a different version of IL-2, which of course is 4.10.1.  To start this process I execute il2server.exe.

Is this the command?

I noticed in il2server.ini the command line to activate UP 3.0 is ModType=3.

I tried FBDj.exe but it says that there is no mission running.

I installed FBDj in the same folder as the server.  Dunno if this is alright or not.

Will read the FBDj manual in closer detail soon.

I haven't set-up the stats yet.

Cheers,

Siggels.

Update:

Alright, I realised I should have activated UP 3.0 in JSGME.  So I did this and then executed il2server.exe and this screenshot is the result.

I've got this image up temporarily in my website as I couldn't figure how to place it in here.
