ohhh nice thread... I'll post my map here when it's ready: I'm making a what-if mission where the Axis is still fighting hard in Italy in 45: Sicily, Sardinia and a good part of southern Italy have been successfully invaded by American and British combined forces but northern and central Italy, plus parts of the south, are still being held by Germans and Italians... except that (and this is historical) Mussolini fled to the north and created the German puppet state "Italian Social Republic", while the new government of the Kingdom of Italy switched sides under the leadership of the the traitor Badoglio... end of the historical part.

The what-if part is the Germany (and Mussolini's republic by extension) hasnt run out of resources yet and keeps on fighting well into the summer of '45, successfully holding the Gothic line and even pushing a good bit down south (this particular detail is needed for technical map-making reasons: with the front too far up north, the action would be limited to one corner of the map)

When the new MDS with the ability to set the max number of players allowed to spawn at each base comes out, I'll add a limited number of jets per side. But right now it's late-war props only, because if unlimited jets are available everyone would pick those, turning the map into something completely different from what I had in mind. With limited pilots per base, I could add say 3 jets per side (a special jets-only base per side, with limited spawn slots) But it;s gonna be a fun map even without jets, and it's gonna use a lot of new slot planes...
The Italy vs. Italy thing is interesting (and historical, to a degree)
so, im working on it a little bit at a time as I have other things to do ... (2 weeks, be sure)

I've been posting MovingDogfight missions on AAA, since posting the first on the 18-2-2009, to promote this MOD, because I believe it is by far the most important thing to happen to IL-2.
During the 9months that I've been posting these missions on AAA, the MDS MOD has not taken off & I believe it is because this very important mod has been suppressed by certain members of AAA.

So I'm posting all the missions on this site, in order to maybe inspire or encourage other people to build & post MDS missions here.
Please bear in mind that Zuti's MDS mod, has progressed from the basic original, that did not have AI fighters attacking when I posted the first mission(AJD-NZ_1940).
These missions should work OK with UP 1.8, but for instance you might not be able to record "ntrk's".
Download the missions here -

I am currently reworking the "Sealion" missions using UP 1.8 (which IMHO is far superior to anything AAA has produced), I'll start posting them here in a week or two  :D

Downloaded. they will be included... you know where :P in a special MDS Folder (if I gather many of those, I may even have several MDS missions folders, divided per time, or theater, or both, or whatever)

I'm thinking about a 'compatible MDS' folder with missions that would work on both 0.8 and 1.0 and an MDS1.0 folder with missions that would only work on 1.0 and above (btw I eonder when the "above" will be ready, I could surely use those limited slots...)

And yes, I agree with MDS being a very important feature for IL-2, pumps a lot of new life in it.
As for UP being superior... well no question about that. There's not even a real competition as long as UI sticks with obsolete game versions, but 1.2.5 will be very popular anyway, as lots of poor suckers dont know any better, so building MDS missions on MDS1.0 and mark them Ultr@pack required would probably encourage people to at least try UP on a second installation of Il2, and once they try it, they'll be hooked right away. Thats how you do "unification": offer a far superior product and you get "de facto unification". It may take a while but it will happen eventually. Resistance is futile. Or, like, whatever.

Congratulations Fred on being the first to post a mission for UltraPack 1.8.
Also a nice mission, nice map & plenty of action  :D

Good on ya neuro, by the way, for the "Sealion_update" mission, I added radar :)

For those of you who are not familiar with the "Full Mission Builder", this is not only where you can build missions, but also where you can customize the mission to suit yourself  ;)

The map folder and _Tex folder go into the maps folder in the Files folder

Objects into the Mods folder

The map wouldn't work properly in UP...texture problem...so I added these textures from my old game folders...
rom_fields_LowLand3.tga
bob_fields_1.tga
add them to the _Tex/Land/summer folder in Files/Maps

Oh well better late than never  ::)

Here's the "Sealion" mission I've been working on, same concept but a completely new mission, using Canons latest maps, with summer & winter versions.

Try the floatplane air starts   :o

~S~ Sal, Fabs, AJ, Great work !!  LOVE em .
any room here for a VFC (very fast carrier) mission or two ? or are they needed to be "sane" missions lol.
looking forward to USL. comp. Ahh just a question, the way things stand at the moment with Zutis and all the JSGME things we can use and add, can some of these be utilised for a campaign with moving fronts, depending on who the winners are? also utilising "drops" for supplies/ammo and fuel? does dropping fuel and ammo on an airfield that doesn't have ammo boxes or fuel depots constitute an availability to use the re arm options when the re arm/re fuel only if airfileds have these boxes are checked /unchecked?
with all the great work everyone is doing IL2 continues to be the new bench mark in combat flight simming..

Thanks Jabo & Sharkzz, because it takes me quite a long time to build these missions
I've made a "story board" for the mission, you can download it here - http://www.4shared.com/file/188005204/10a301c4/Sealion_a__storyboard.html I'm no novelist, but it should give you some idea of whats going on ;)

Sharkzz you can build any mission you like using Zuti's MDS, the only limiting factor is your imagination & as far as "sane" missions go, I'm not sure if I'm qualified to answer that  :P Yes you can nominate the next mission to be loaded, depending on the outcome in FMB, using Zuti's "MDS" thingy. I don't think you can drop off ammo & fuel etc, but dropping off agents is worth 500 points & I think it's 250 points for recon aircraft spotting objects(icons), with the radar enabled(map icons off). Check out Zuti's $ReadMe$ then the more detailed $ChangeLog$, located in the "Zuti_MDS_mod_ReadME!" folder, inside the "Ultr@PackDocs" folder  :D

I seem to have a problem loading these AJ, I only tried the Blenheim missions, as I've not D/loaded the Wellington yet. Tried swopping the 1GB client , safe dll's ect. When I get in the arming screen I just see a bubble for the cockpit, no aircraft (it did work a couple of times). On the odd occasion I got into the game it CTD'd after a couple of seconds.
Other times, I got the paratroop mesh error. I'm using Zuti 1.1

Your old Sealion missions work fine, as do all my others..

Edit> loaded in FMB and saw the following errors when I pressed shift tab:
!Exception in RT Tick!
Land2Dtext load failed: Null
Can't find chunk 'GearL6_D0'                 Don't know if that helps :)

Hi Dusty, sorry, I haven't replied sooner, I've been away & just got back.
I think it's an insufficient RAM issue, as unfortunately it is quite busy at the start, because I've tried to make it playable as a single mission, co-op & dogfight mission & to show what's possible with the latest Zuti MDS.
Also as it's a 2hr mission, I was thinking of remaking it as a couple of simpler 1hr missions, if you guys want me to. But I am getting a bit fed up with these missions, it's a bit like "ground hog day"  :)

Good on ya Sharkzz, no worries mate, thanks for the feedback  ;)

Hi AJ, yeah, I sort of worked it out on the other site....LOL. Just have to get hold of some more RAM. I did get to try it out, until it crashed on me, it looks great and please do keep 'em coming. Much appreciated thanks

Edit> Actually, I got it working by cutting down on the mods in use and reverting back to the original .exe. Nice missions thanks!  :thumb:

OK, I'll make a couple of simpler (approx 1hr) missions, that will be less demanding on RAM etc, but don't hold your breath.
When I said I'm getting a bit fed up with these missions, it's not so much the missions, but using the same map, because I've been making missions using Canons English Channel maps for months now & I'm looking forward to using a different map.

But obviously I do enjoy building missions

Just a bit of an update

I made a cut down version of Sealion(a), but it's not the mission, its Canons new maps, there's too much detail & they need lots of RAM !
Using my system with 2gb of RAM(dual core 2.8 & 8800GT 512mb video card) even in FMB I get the "Virtual Memory Minimum Too Low" message.
In game, when I press the arming & fly buttons they take ages, although the mission itself plays fine at 60fps.

Today I added another 1GB of RAM, making a total of 3GB & it's as smooth as a baby's bum.
