I had the retail version recently purchased. UP3 will give me the 5% error.

what i tried within 3 days
-reinstalled several times(clean install every time) on c:\ and not in program files. Il-2 sturmovik properly patched up to 4.10.1(although when i start il2 it just show 4.10 and not 4.10.1 and im not sure if thats normal) tried to just install and enable UP3 through the generic mod enabler. no result
-backed up all .sfs files and copied them back in the game's main folder when i installed the UP3- no result, just more mess
-the alternate 3do.sfs file did nothing since its for DL version

what im reading is that the ONE AND ONLY(hopefully) problem is that some .sfs files have gone missing by an unknown cause(to me at least). SO, which ones are specifically and what im supposed to do with them

i have currently installed the game and fully patched it(its my try with the 3do.sfs), which means that i might not be able to retrieve the .sfs files cause they are already missing due to the whole process. a solution(like downloading the files from somewhere) that will not require a re installation(got fed up with it) will be appreciable, but i will reinstall if i have to. 

EDIT: i reinstalled once again applied all the patches. after that i backed up all .sfs files. then i installed UP3. after a failed attempt i copied the backed up .sfs files back to the game folder. this try yield no results. i am pretty sure that no .sfs file is missing. anyone hellooooooo

EDIT2: tried with RC2, 3 and 4. i would be a fool if i expected it to run with the patches.

peterako1989, please install MD5summer  http://www.md5summer.org/

Install UP3 RC2  (preferably not RC3 or RC4) and then run this SFV file in MD5summer http://s92713009.onlinehome.us/IL2/IL2_UP3_RC2.md5 .  look for any sfs or dll files that differ.  Ignore useless things like recordings, ngen etc.    If you do this carefully I am confident you will find the bad file.   8)

If you are forced to install RC3 or RC4, it will still work up to a point, you should be able to verify most base files anyway.

you kinda lost me there  :fool: so ok i DL'ed the program. the second link you gave me opens another tab and leads to a site that basically is a huge text with files written in it. am i supposed to copy and paste the entire text somewhere or it was supposed to do something different? a detailed walkthrought on the process would be much appreciated.

Right click on the link and save it as a file (Save link as...), inside your Il2 install folder.  Then open it with MD5 summer and run the comparison.

so i basically got 1034 errors    :confused0053:
there is gunload of.wav files and towards the end i see 6 .ini, two .sfs, 1 .cmd 3 log(worryingly enough i see some errors that relate to UP3 like JSGME.ini). i see no dll. so i should be interested only in the .sfs files?

UPDATE: tried clean install and back up of the .sfs files(i think it matters to say this. the fb_3do22.sfs gets replaced by fb_3do22server.sfs after 4.10.1 and its one of the two problematic .sfs ) it didnt work :wacko: BTW the other sfs errored file is files.sfs.

Yes only sfs files, they should all basically match.  I guess you have some corrupt files or different files in your Il2 installer, just like I had.  The wav files and ini files don't really matter.

Here grab the two sfs files and see if that makes the checksum OK and if Il2 starts up.  http://s92713009.onlinehome.us/IL2/fb_3do22_files.7z  (will be deleted in a day or so)

Glad the hear it worked, I know how frustrating it can be, plus I was inspired by the poetry you wrote.

SFS Files being removed, but anyone who is really hard pressed with 5% errors should eventually try the MD5 sum check posted above.  Then the only issue is getting the proper sfs files.

I am missing fb_3do.sfs and maps17.sfs can any one tell me where I can get these still CTD after 5% the above url is not working. Also how do I check sum my files? Could not do this.

@Rudder - I have prepared a fresh md5 for you to run  http://www.gamefront.com/files/20914217/IL_2_Sturmovik_1946_UP3_RC4_md5

Place that in your Il2 install folder.   
In JSGME (sp)  disable UP3 from active mods.
Launch md5summer and perform checksum check on that md5 file.  http://www.md5summer.org/
Ideally only .log,ini,cfg files should differ. (especially not exe, bin, sfs)

Ladies & Gentlemen
I finally got 3.0 downloaded and working. My problem was that 4.01.1 was not upgrading. I went to Missions4Today and some soul put a download that includes all the patches from 408 to 409m plus 409m skins 4.10 and 4.10.1 called a Mega download what a great idea. That was the reason I was CTD after 5% load. I found that when I was bringing up the 4.10.1 game the splash screen was 4.10 not 4.10.1. That means that the 3.0 download is good and was OK all the time. I hope this will help some of our IL2 friend get on board with UP 3.0. I want to thank all that helped me along the way.

Good to know your download of UP3 was ok all along
yes checking the version game number on the splashscreen when starting is always good to be sure your correctly patched

The Megapatch from Mission4Today is a very good way of patching your game

The fb_3do.sfs is an SFS File that is included and updated in each of all the individual patches,including the 4.101m patch
So without patching correctly that SFS File would and most likely did or added to the cause of the crash to desktop

Anyhow,glad you have it working

Hello im having a problem. i started patching IL2 from 4.09-4.40.1 and then i download and install UltraPack 3.0 once i set it up and press start IL2 its starts and then a few seconds later crashes to the desktop plz can u help me

Hi fishfinger, i had the same problem. Go there and download RC4 fix http://ultrapack.il2war.com/index.php/topic,1052.msg43814.html#msg43814
Next launch the game with the ultrapack mod activated, and in the IL2 selector go in "change settings", then increment the ram usage (i set it to the max value, 1024). It should fix that.
